IShowSpeed performs at World Cup closing ceremony as father travels 12 hours by bus to support him

IShowSpeed’s World Cup closing ceremony performance became a family milestone Sunday after the streamer’s father traveled 12 hours by bus to make sure he was inside MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the event.
IShowSpeed performed before Spain and Argentina met in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He joined a ceremony lineup that included Post Malone, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger and Robbie Williams, while Jennifer Hudson performed the U.S. national anthem and Tom Cruise made a special appearance.
In a shared video filmed inside the stadium, the online star’s brother and father discussed how his travel plans changed due to the weather.
The exchange added an emotional layer to a career moment for IShowSpeed, who has made soccer a central part of his online presence through livestreams, match appearances and football-themed music.
His connection to the sport has also brought difficult experiences. Earlier in the tournament, IShowSpeed was subjected to racist abuse from Argentina supporters while livestreaming the team’s Round of 32 match against Cabo Verde. The incident prompted renewed discussion about racism in soccer and Argentina’s history with Black identity.
During a January tour of Africa, he also encountered hostility at an Algerian Cup match, where spectators repeatedly threw water in his direction. He eventually left the stadium after moving sections did not stop the treatment.
The closing ceremony appearance offered a different image of IShowSpeed’s involvement. Instead of reacting from the stands or documenting the tournament for his audience, the 21-year-old streamer stepped onto the field as part of the official program before the tournament final.
